Obituary for Lorraine Guy Lorraine Guy, age 76, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Halcyon House in Washington. Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Calling hours will begin noon Friday, June 29th , at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Interment will take place at the Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials have been established for the Alzheimer’s Association or Lending Hands. Online condolences may be sent for Lorraine’s family through the web at www.

jonesfh.com Lorraine was born February 13, 1942, in Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Doris (Chadwick) Spurgeon. She graduated from Keosauqua High School and attended Burlington Beauty Academy in Burlington, Iowa. Lorraine was married to Zip Hughes in on February 5, 1961, in Keosauqua, Iowa.

She was later married to Wendel Guy on June 12, 1981 Lorraine worked at McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory from 1966 until her retirement. Following her retirement she worked as a bookkeeper for the Disciples of Christ Church in Washington. She was a long time member of the Christian Church.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and baking cakes, cookies and pies. Lorraine was an active member of the Red Hat Society and was known as a very giving person, always willing to help a friend in need. She is survived by three daughters: Wanda Hughes-Pfeifer and husband Roger Pfeifer of Lawrence, Kansas; Theresa Hughes of Washington, Iowa; Yvonne Hughes of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Haley Hughes-Pfeifer; David Hughes-Pfeifer; Malory Hughes-Pfeifer and fiancé Jeremy Pearce; Shea O’Hanlon; Taryn O’Hanlon; Briley Brown and fiancé T.J. Stuart; Brady Brown, and Ben Gingerich; and three great grandchildren: Jeslynn Stuart, Deacon Stuart, and Harvey Pearce.

Lorraine is also survived by step son, Nathan Guy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; step daughter, Angie Gingerich Steckley and husband Rodney of Kalona, Iowa; sister, Elaine Bozman of Carol Stream, Illinois; and sister, Nancy Rae and husband David of Salisbury, Missouri.
