Obituary for Alberta Tedford Alberta Adaliza “Teddy” Tedford, age 97, left this earth to meet her heavenly Father on Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Bedford Specialty Care Center in Bedford, IA. She previously resided in Washington, IA, at the United Presbyterian Home. A memorial service will be held in Washington as well as interment at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date.

She graduated from Albia High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Education from the University of Minnesota, and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Chicago. She lived in Egypt for 22 years and Iran for 8 years, where she worked as a surgical nurse, nurse educator, and administrator with the United Presbyterian Church Board of Foreign Missions. She returned to the US where she taught at the University of Iowa and Mt.
Mercy College for 10 years before retiring to Washington in 1985. She is survived by her brother, Paul Taylor Tedford, of San Diego, CA; numerous nieces and nephews including Phil Hibma, Martha Monserat, Ruth Montzingo, Jim Hibma, David Hibma, Dan Hibma, Debbie Monserat, Mark Tedford, Gayle Cureton, Randy Tedford, Tom Grove, Tim Grove, Jill Grove, Lynda Hardee, Ann Tedford, Jane Walter; and their children and grandchildren. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lora Blanch (Taylor) Tedford; two sisters: Cleo Margaret Hibma and Virginia May Grove; her brother, James Stewart Tedford; and a nephew, Jay Tedford.
