OBITUARY Geraldine Houdasheldt July 6, 1925 – July 16, 2018 Geraldine Houdasheldt passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018 just 10 days after her 93rd birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Oliver Andrews; two sisters, Margaret Kaiser and Dorothy Willer; two brothers, Charles and Oliver Jr.; her husband, Floyd and one granddaughter, Erin Vukusich. She leaves behind one brother, David (Mary) Andrews; four children, Thomas (Sherri) Houdasheldt, Timothy Houdasheldt, Dawn (Fred) McNulty and Luanne Gray.

She also leaves behind three granddaughters, Elizabeth Chandler, Cara Vukusich and Melissa Hemphill, and eleven great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews, all beloved by her. She was born in 1925 in East Chicago, IN and lived her whole life in NW Indiana, except for a period during the great depression when her family relocated to Tennessee for a time. Following World War II she married her childhood sweetheart who had returned from service in the United States Navy in the Pacific.

They eventually settled in Highland in a home the former Seabee and his family built themselves. After marriage she was a homemaker who raised not only her own four children, but helped with many others, caring for them while their parents were away or working. She loved each one as if they were her own.

She raised her children in, and was a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Highland. She was an excellent seamstress who made many of the clothes her daughters and granddaughters wore as children. She made many beautiful doll clothes as well and loved working with her hands, crocheting and painting ceramics for many years.

She is now in the arms of her loving God and family members long missed. A kinder, more giving person never walked the earth. She is missed terribly by all who knew and loved her.
