OBITUARY John M. Popa July 3, 1932 – July 12, 2018 John M. Popa, age 86, of St. John, IN passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side. John was born July 3, 1932 in Griffith, IN to the late Milton and Rosalia Popa. Also preceding him in death are his loving wife of 51 years, Mary “Cookie” (nee Arrigo) Popa; siblings, Mary Schau, Pearl Schmidt, Rose Mahaffey, Anna Benedict, Milton Popa Jr., and Neo Popa.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Debra (Charles) Wagner and Cheryl (Roman) Rogala; grandchildren, Heather (Timothy) Bognar and Jared (Ashley) Hamilton; great grandchildren, Evan, Bryce, Sadie and Norah; sister, Elena (Paul) Popa; good friend, Robert Hamilton; and his furry companion, Mugsy “Buddy”. John honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in France. He retired at 52, after 30 years of faithful service at LTV Steel.

John was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be missed dearly. Visitation will be Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 2:00-6:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave.

, Crown Point, IN 46307) with Rev. Doug Klukken officiating. Entombment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in the Angels Mausoleum.
