Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father and grandfather passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Covenant HealthCare -Cooper Campus. Age 84 years. The son of the late Frederick and Bertha (Moyer) Beckman, Giles was born on August 16, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan.

He married Irene Kushner on June 18, 1960. She predeceased him on October 29, 2016. Giles proudly served in the United States Army.

He was a custodian for Buena Vista School District for more than 20 years retiring in 1996. Giles was a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and current members of St. Francis de Sales Parish – St. Christopher Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and volunteered for funeral luncheons and soup suppers. Giles and Irene were very involved in the Saginaw Ezekiel Project.

He thoroughly enjoyed going to flea markets. Surviving are his children, Cheryl (John) Allen, Valerie (Patrick) Kenny, Tina (Gayle) Miller, Harvey (Rebecca Hanes) Beckman, Karen Beckman (Eric Perez), Greg Johnson and George (Caroline) Johnson; a son-in-law, George Johnson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Giles was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Johnson.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Parish – St. Christopher Catholic Church, 3945 Williamson Rd. Rev. Fr.

John Mancini, OSFS will officiate. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
