OBITUARY Glen J Mercer March 1, 1932 – October 8, 2018 Glen Joseph Mercer, 86, of Loves Park passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2018. Born March 1, 1932 in Lone Rock, WI. Son of Leon and Helga (Bell) Mercer.

Graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1950 and from there he joined the United States Marines serving 4 years on the USS New Jersey. Glen was very proud to be a Marine Sergeant. Married the love of his life Lucille McCarty on October 6, 1956.

She predeceased him on February 23, 2016. Glen and Lucille loved to travel in their RV to various destinations across the country. They enjoyed life as a couple; wherever it took them, they got there together, and that’s what mattered most.

Glen is survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; wife, Lucille; brothers, Harris, David, Donald, Robert; sister, Thelma Oesterly and Margaret Recob. Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park.

Visitation is 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial following Military Honors in Sunset Memorial Gardens. To share a condolence www.
