Glendon Fay Jackson, 80, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 with his family at his side. Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Glendale Church of Christ with the funeral immediately following. Doug Jackson will be officiating.

Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Park. Glendon was a native and life-long resident of Florence, retired as General Foreman of Florence Utilities after 37 years of service and a member of IBEW Local 558. He loved sports and was an outstanding three year letterman in basketball and baseball at Central High School.

As reported in the newspaper of the day “Glendon and Lendon Jackson, Central’s elongated identical twins inked pacts with the Brooklyn Dodgers” in June 1956. They reported to historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, FL and were assigned to the Thomasville, Georgia club. An avid golfer, he played many courses all over the Southeast with family and friends.

He was a lifelong member of Glendale Church of Christ. Glendon was preceded in death by parents James and Blanche Jackson, brothers Gene “Ed” Jackson and Gerald Jackson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years Nancy Bryant Jackson, daughter Gwen Patrick (Jerry) and son Mike Jackson (Chantel); brother Lendon Jackson (Willie Mae); grandchildren Lesley Johnson (Tyler), Kevin Patrick (Anne-Marie), Belia Jackson and Roland Jackson; in-laws Rosie Jackson, Charlotte Rogers and Louis and Betty McAdams; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers include Jerry Patrick, Kevin Patrick, Tyler Johnson, Billy Jackson, Bubba Bryant, Terry Jackson, Keith Jackson and Scott Irons. Honorary pallbearers are Roland Jackson, Phillip Jackson, Brett Jackson, Jeff Bryant, Tillman McAdams and Paul Thompson. The family would like to thank the staff of ECM Intensive Care Unit, Dr. William H. Heaton and Dr. Ralph L. Aquadro, Jr. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Heart Association.
