Gloria Louise Rickert, 90, of Reinbeck, passed away on Monday, April 23 at her home with her loving family by her side while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26 from 4-7 PM at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A rosary service will be held at 7 PM following the visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 27 at 10:30 AM at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church in rural Reinbeck with Father David Kucera officiating. Visitation will resume from the evening prior at the church at 9:30 AM. Interment will take place at the Reinbeck City Cemetery at 1 PM.

abelsfuneralhomes.com Gloria Louise Rickert was born on August 3, 1927 in Traer, IA, to her parents Richard and Effye (Carr) Hargan. Gloria was raised in Reinbeck and graduated from Reinbeck High School with the class of 1945. Gloria went on to attend the Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls specializing in music.

Gloria was united in marriage to William Nash on September 21, 1946 at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Reinbeck which ended later with Williams’s death. Gloria was united in marriage to Robert Rickert on January 18, 1964 at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Reinbeck. Gloria worked alongside Robert helping in the office with clerical work when they owned the service station from 1965-78 and later when they owned a fuel service truck delivering to farmers in the Reinbeck area.

Gloria enjoyed spending time with family and friends and time spent with her grandchildren. Gloria also enjoyed singing, running, spending time outdoors and camping, and gardening. Gloria always enjoyed dressing up and looking her best at all times.

Gloria was a member of the Catholic Foresters of America. Gloria is survived by her husband Robert Rickert; children William Mark (Carla) Nash of Cedar Falls and Bobbi-Anne Rene Peterson (Marty Pettengill) of Gladbrook; grandchildren Eric Nash of Reinbeck, Jennifer (Stewart) Stedman of Cedar Falls, Tarrence (Nichole) Peterson of Traer, and Shalene (Cody) Wical of Marshalltown; many great and great-great grandchildren. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, husband William, great-great granddaughter Carla, sister Marian, and infant brother John.
