Hays of Eaton Rapids, Passed away after a short illness, December 26, 2018 at the age of 74. Gordy was born in Muskegon, MI. , June 26, 1944, the son of Joseph and Frances Hays.

He was in the Military Police and was an Army Ranger along with his Scout dog, Duke 395x, serving during the Vietnam War. Gordy graduated from Spring Arbor University with a bachelor’s degree in history and went on to teach at Lansing Community College. He changed many young girls lives by coaching them in basketball for numerous years.

He was the coach at ton High School and several different college level teams and was most famous for coaching the Michigan Roadrunners. Gordy is survived by his wife of almost 14 years, Chris Hays; children, Danielle (Justin) Fink of DeWitt, Genanne (Michael) LaCosse of IL, Andrea DeVries of IN, Michael Hays of Williamston, Kate Jewett of Eaton Rapids, Rebecca Sutton of Eaton Rapids, Anna (Lane) DenBoer of Wayland; grandchildren, Adeline and Isabelle Fink, Eddie and Mitchell Jewett, Drew and Gina Sutton, Tessa and Sutton DenBoer, Mackenzie, Madison, Logan, Jackson and Conner DeVries, Lucas and Jacob LaCosse; brothers, William Hays of Houghton, MI. , James (Connie) Hays of Muskegon, Gerald (Laura) Hays of OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Jean Hays; brother, Ronald Hays. No services are planned at this time. Interment will take place at Ft.

Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Sparrow Hospice, 1322 E. Michigan Ave.
