Gregory James Hendges, 57, of Traverse City passed away on January 31st 2019. Greg was born on January 23rd 1962 to Fred and Mary (Fritz) Hendges and he was the youngest of three brothers. He lived his entire life in Traverse City.

He worked at GJ’s Pizza for 40 years, starting as a young boy. He saw the store through many changes and developed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was a great cook and enjoyed having get togethers at the farm.

He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Greg made several trips to Eleuthera Bahamas fishing, Colorado Elk hunting, Quebec Caribou hunting, Montana site seeing, trips to the UP and many deer camps at the farm with family and friends. Greg was also one of the founding members of Ducks Unlimited in Fife Lake.

Greg was very giving in nature and helped many people over the years. It was not uncommon for Greg to give everything he had and go without himself to help someone in need. Those left behind to honor his memory are his mother Mary; brothers Randy (Patricia) and David (Valerie); nephews and nieces Jeremy, Erin, Tanya, Eric, Jason, Christa, Justin, Hannah, Tiffany, Ben; and great nephews and nieces or the little Ones as Greg called them Cameron, Carter, Leo, Fiona, Everett, Garrett, Beckett.

He was preceded in death by his father Fred Hendges, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends The Family would especially like to thank Dr. Peter Kohlar, Melody, The entire Staff at Cowell Family Cancer Center for their excellent care and Guidance over the last 4 years And a very special Thank You to Munson Hospice House for their care and support. In lieu flowers The Family ask that Memorial Contributions be made to the Munson Hospice House The mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday February 4, 2019 at 11:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow in the spring at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Fife Lake. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
