Gregory Vincent Makowski, 63, of Vandergrift passed away peacefully on June 13, 2018 after his Prize-Fighter battle with cancer alongside his loving wife, Amy. He was born July 19, 1954 and the son of the late Francis (Esther Pugliese) Makowski. Vinnie was a man of men, a unique light that shined bright, and onto many.

Also, a member of the community with numerous organizations, including the Polish Club, DAV, Sons of Italy, Festa Italiano, and American Legion. When he was not working he always lived life to its fullest.

He was true fan of Pittsburgh Sports, and known on his ice hockey team as ‘Kamikaze! ’ Vinnie was always singing and quoting his favorite music. Vinnie would ask that we all, “Adapt and Overcome”.

He is survived by his wife Amy Bufalini Makowski of Vandergrift, a daughter Samantha Curtis of Oklahoma, a stepdaughter Moe (Eric) Bufalini Montanez of Pittsburgh, a stepson and friend Jesse Jon Salensky of Mamont, two sisters Francine Whaley of Apollo and Christine (Ronald) McLaughlin of New Hampshire, a sister-in-law Andrea Makowski of Arnold, a sister in-law Judy Mrasz of Vandergrift, a mother in-law Viola Kennedy of Vandergrift, a father in-law Edward M. Mrasz of Shelocta, four brother in-laws Michael and Andrew Mrasz of Vandergrift, Eric Mrasz of Apollo, and Eddie Mrasz Jr. of Shelocta, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and their dog Lieutenant Papa Palu. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother John Daniel Makowski and his nephew Marcus Whaley. Family and Friends will be received on Sunday June 17, 2018 from 12:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 -8:00 pm at The Janette L. Gamble Funeral Home Inc. 2842 River Road Vandergrift, Pa (724) 567-7006 with a mass on Monday at 12:00 pm with Monsignor Michael Beggoly and Father Michael Sciberras officiating at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 400 Kennedy Avenue East Vandergrift, PA 15629, closing with a twenty-one gun salute, full Military Honors from Vandergrift Honor Guard and Marine Corps Guard.
