Anna (Pomykala) Mazurek, 98, of East Vandergrift, passed away to be with Our Lord on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Quality Life Services, Apollo. She is the daughter of the late Stanley and Caroline Panek Pomykala.

Anna was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace parish in East Vandergrift. She graduated from Vandergrift High School and went on to be a hairdresser with shops in Vandergrift and Ford City until her son was born in 1953. Anna enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, crossword puzzles and word search.

She especially enjoyed intricately decorating Easter eggs with colored wax for the Blessing of the Baskets in Church. Anna enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family, especially at Christmas when she would host a fabulous Christmas dinner for everyone to enjoy. She also enjoyed beach vacations with the family.

Anna loved spending time with her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren at birthday parties and during the holidays. She always enjoyed having them around her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1996; her brothers, Chester Pomykala and Thaddeus Welkon, both of East Vandergrift; and her sister, Stella (Pomykala) Jablonski, of Dallas, Texas.

Anna is survived by her son, John S. (Kasia) Mazurek, of East Vandergrift; grandchildren, Misty Gavasto, of Bellvue, John (Carla) Mazurek, of Plum, and Carrie (Jeff) Caprino, of North Huntingdon. Also, great-grandchildren, Max Gavasto, Luciana, Alena and John Paul Mazurek; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the DUNMIRE-KERR & ROWE FUNERAL HOME INC.

, 244 Franklin Ave. , Vandergrift. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, East Vandergrift, with Father Michael Sciberras as celebrant.
