Hanna Johanna Rock, age 86, of Bemidji, MN went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 22, 2018. She was born on August 28, 1931 in Nuremberg, Germany the daughter of Frederick and Frieda Fimpel. Hanna grew up in Germany and survived WWII.

Going through the war gave a strength that she used throughout the rest of her life. Hanna met her soon to be husband, Rev. John S. Rock in Furth, Germany at the Johnson Barrick Snack Bar while John was serving in the U.S. Army.

They married in 1966 and traveled back and forth between Germany and the U.S. while John served his country for 22 years. When Hanna came to the U.S. she had to teach herself English and she did this through the T.V. programs she would watch. Hanna loved her family and she was a very strong person who pushed her children to get educated.

When John became an ordained priest, Hanna became pastoral minister ordained by the bishop. She and John would travel all over the U.S. experiencing different places. Hanna loved being in Northern Minnesota with all the trees and the four seasons.

She even thought the Jack Pine was a beautiful gift from God. Even though Hanna enjoyed the Bemidji area, she also missed many things about her home in Germany like the food and the language. She would light up when someone would speak German and loved when she could get good German food.

Hanna was very proud of her family and she loved dogs and kids. She was a very strong lady who never complained about anything. Her hair was one of her signatures and she took the time to not only be meticulous with herself, but also her home and her family.

Any job that Hanna found herself doing would be met with 100% effort, she was always a hard worker, even when it came to family. Hanna will be missed by all her friends and family. The family that Hanna joins again are her parents; Fitz and Frieda, an infant baby boy, a grandson; Joshua and a great granddaughter; Willow.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years; Rev. John S. Rock, Sr. of Bemidji, sons; John (Brenda) Rock, Jr. of Bemidji, and Dr. Patrick (Rita) Rock of Maple Grove, daughters; Monica (Dean) Hooker of Laporte, and Gaby Walter of Munich, Germany, grandchildren; Marcel Walter, Casandra Hooker, Nichole Powers, Gabrielle Hooker, Zach Hooker, Raven Rock, Rozene Rock, Roslyn Rock, Royal Rock, Ella Rock and Sedrick Rock, great grandchildren; Mason Taylor, Kylie and Kendall Cronemiller.
