Obituary for Harold E. Rihm GREENFIELD—Harold E. Rihm, 89, passed away quietly Thursday, April 19, 2018 surrounded by family in Greenfield, Indiana. Harold was born 1928 to Carl and Norma (Kussman) Rihm of Knightstown, Indiana. Harold graduated from Knightstown High School 1947 and from the University of Notre Dame 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.

He worked 34 years with Naval Avionics as a project engineer and with the Rihm family meat market business. Harold was a 26-year member of the Knightstown Volunteer Fire Department, and volunteered with Greenfield Fire Department and Indiana State Fire Instructor. He was a member of the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Board in Knightstown.

He was also an avid amateur ham radio operator. Harold will always be remembered for his commitment to his community, his wit, and his sense of humor. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown, St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Greenfield and Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center, Florida.

Harold was married to Margaret Louise (Whitfield) Rihm in 1951 until she passed 1985. He married Virginia (Stearns) Anderson in 1986. Harold and Virginia had lived in Sun City Center, Florida for the last 19 years.

Harold is survived by Virginia and his children, Mary Sinnott of Opelika, Alabama, John (Patricia) Rihm of Greenfield, Mark (Peggy) Rihm of Beech Grove, and Ann (Phil) Idlewine of Greenfield; and step-children, John (Beth Haynes) Anderson of Georgetown, IN, and Theresa (Jay) Sheppard of Morgantown, IN. He has 6 grandchildren, Michael (Lauren) Sinnott of Birmingham, Alabama, Joseph (Tasha) Rihm of Camby, IN, Timothy Sinnott of Austin, TX, Katelyn Rihm of Beech Grove, and Joshua and Paul Rihm of Greenfield; 3 step-grandchildren, Andrew, Aria, and Zaccary; and one great grand-daughter, Abigail Rihm of Camby, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Norma Rihm; first wife Margaret (Whitfield) Rihm; and brother, Robert Rihm.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140, with Rosery at 2:45 p.m. prior to visitation. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140.
