Harry H. “Bud” Nolan IV passed from this life into the arms of God on September 16, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA, where he had been a patient for the past seven weeks. Bud endured a long and difficult struggle against multiple medical conditions and faced them with patience and strength. Bud was born on September 28, 1968 in Dunkirk, NY to his late parents, Harry and Bertha “Bertie” Nolan.
He was raised in Fredonia, NY and graduated from Fredonia Central High School in 1987. Bud later earned an LPN diploma, and was employed by the Rouse Home in Youngsville, PA for ten years. In 2002, he began employment at Experience Inc., the local Area Agency on Aging in Warren, PA, where he remained employed as a supervisor until his passing.
He was a dedicated employee who took great pride in his work. Bud was an incredibly loyal, dependable man of integrity. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.
Bud loved football and was a loyal Buffalo Bills fan. He loved music and movies and excelled in art as a student. He enjoyed hunting and archery, especially when his children were able to join him.
Bud was an outstanding cook and enjoyed sharing that talent at family celebrations and office parties. He had a dry sense of humor and a sarcastic wit and was always quick with an often-irreverent comeback. His ability to find the humor in any situation sustained him throughout his illness.
Bud is survived by his wife and best friend, Teresa Nolan, whom he married on August 7, 2002, as well as his children: Kyle Hanlin of Gambrills, MD, Hannah Hufnagel and her husband Jordan of Clarion, PA, Derek Hanlin, Quincy Nolan, and Sarah Nolan. He will be remembered as Papa to his grandson, Brynen Hufnagel, whom he enjoyed so much. Also surviving are his sisters Rachelle Nolan and Candy Nolan (Alex Davis), and their children Val Jr., Ryan, and Alexis.
Bud’s extended family includes his grandparents Arthur and Frances Lepp, his Uncle Art, his Aunts DeeDee, Bev, Shelly, Kim, and Sue, as well as many cousins. Bud is also survived by his in-laws, William and Valerie Wieliczko, his sisters-in-law Anne Wieliczko, Chris (Dave) Grande, and Julie Wieliczko (Scott Anderson), and his brother-in-law Mike (Valerie) Wieliczko, and all of their families. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and close friend, John Wieliczko.
Bud will be deeply missed by those of us who loved him. He had much more living to do and many plans. We will find our strength in our memories and in the love he left behind.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at 2pm at the Warren Moose Lodge, 422 Pennsylvania Ave. West, Warren PA 16365.
