Samuel S. Shaffer, 83, of Warren, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018, following a lengthy illness. Sam was born January 27, 1935 in Sprankles Mills, PA, (Jefferson County) to the late Harry and Maude Milliron Shaffer. Sam was a driver for Sysco Foods for thirty-five years, from which he retired.

He was a member of the Pine Grove Sportsmen’s Club, The National Rifle Association, and the Teamster’s Union. Sam loved hunting, fishing, his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be long remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Sam is survived by his wife, Mary Mauk Shaffer, whom he married on June 18, 1955; a daughter, Barbara Woods (John), of Warren; five siblings, Geraldine Himes, Dayton, OH, Harry Shaffer, Sherills Ford, NC, Earl Shaffer, (Mary), Warren, PA, Sally Ann Rehrig, Brookville, PA, and George Shaffer (Dorothy), Punxsutawney, PA; three grandchildren, Keith Woods (Sara), Stephanie Arthurs (Rob), and Brad Woods (Jodi); six great grandchildren, BrookeLynn Woods, Peyton Arthurs, Kenley Woods, Shayna Gourley, Grayson Woods, and Camden Woods; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his son, Samuel L. Shaffer; and a brother, William J. Shaffer. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna.

Ave. East, on Tuesday, September 18, Warren, PA, from 12 noon until 2 pm, at which time a funeral service will be held there, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA The family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren County, One Main Ave.
