Obituary for Harry Haynes Sisk Harry Haynes Sisk, 88, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018, at home following a courageous battle with a long illness. Harry was born to the late Preston Harry Sisk and Sarah Mabel Sisk. After graduation from Happy Valley, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from East Tennessee State College. He served 33 years in the Carter County School System as an educator, teacher, principal, coach, mentor and school board member. He was responsible for establishing the vocational programs that exist today within the county.

After retirement, he served as a Carter County Commissioner for several years. He had an avid love for the great outdoors; he especially loved hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sisk was preceded in death by his first wife, Maude Evelyn Berry Sisk; sisters, Gladys Griffith and Kathleen “Kat” Rowan; his beloved dog Jake.

Mr. Sisk is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice Sisk; children: Jeffrey Sisk (Karen), Wesley Sisk (Lisa), Sandy Ripley (Mark), Cindy Foster (Dave), Becky Street (John); grandchildren: Ashley Williams (Josh), Hayley Reece (Britt), Alesha Sisk, Tyler Ripley, Tabitha Sisk, Michael Sisk (Sharaya), Miranda Thorne (Tyler), Brian Foster (Chasity), Missy Compton (Kevin), Randy Powell, Andrew Powell, Nicole Carriger; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Roland, and Bodhi Williams, Remington Sisk, Paxton Bernard, Brody Foster, Logan and Mason Childers, Jacquelyn Powell, Stephanie and McKenzie Carriger; sister Jane Bayless (Charlie); and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton, TN. A graveside service will take place at Happy Valley Memorial Park on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM with burial to follow, with Pastor Todd Wolfe, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 12:15 PM on Monday, to go in procession. A special thanks is extended to Drew Dykes, Megan Renfro, and Karl Glasser with Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they provided to Mr. Sisk and family.
