Hazel Smith Hackworth, age 77, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at McDowell Assisted Living. A native of McDowell County, Hazel was born on May 29, 1941 to the late William and Etta West Smith. Hazel was a loving mother and grandmother, sister and friend.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by three children, Michael Hackworth, Greg Hackworth and wife Shelley Moreland and Steven Hackworth; one sister, Pat Elliott (Doug), sister-in-law, Mary Smith and one brother, Gene Smith. Also surviving Hazel are her two grandchildren, Johnathon and Heather Hackworth.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Pinnacle Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Hollifield officiating.
