Helen Anna Mendoza July 21, 1920 – November 3, 2018 Helen Anna Mendoza, a retired Registered Nurse and widow of the late Frank Mendoza passed away at home with her family by her side. Helen was raised in Delaware, graduated from St Francis School of Nursing, joined the Army Nurse Corp , received the World War II Victory Medal, an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and retired as a Captain. She also worked as a RN at Mt Diablo Hospital for 13 years then retired in 1981.

Helen leaves behind 3 sons, John (wife Linda), Frank and Joseph, 2 daughters, Chrystine and Pamela, Granddaughter Lydia and Grandson Maro. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters Francia and Michele, 2 sisters, 1 brother and her parents whom immigrated from Slovenia. Helen was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Pleasant Hill Senior Center, and the local AARP Chapter 524.

There will be a Rosary/Viewing at Oak Park Hills Chapel, 3111 N. Main St., Walnut Creek 7PM Thursday November 8th. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 199 Brandon Road, Pleasant Hill Friday November 9th at 2PM with burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Christ the King School or a favorite charity.
