Helen M. Knueven KALIDA – Helen M. Knueven, 84, of Kalida died at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born May 21, 1934 in Delphos to the late Albert and Evelyn (Brenner) Horstman. On October 23, 1954 she married James J. Knueven who died April 28, 2015.

She is survived by three children, Deb Kruse, Karen (Duane) Schroeder and Janet (Tom) Janka all of Kalida; nine grandchildren, Adam Kruse, Amber (Dave) Farler, Austin (Jenna) Kruse, Lindsay (Brian) Rieman, Dustin (Dannielle) Schroeder, Dane Schroeder, Kari (Adam) Roberts, Rob (Andrea) Janka, and Lauren Janka; nine great-grandchildren, Brynlee Farler, Noah Farler, Braylon Rieman, Caden Rieman, Westin Rieman, Finn Rieman, Ty Schroeder, Levi Schroeder, and Drew Schroeder, and three on- the-way; a brother, Roger “Joe” (Diane) Horstman of Landeck; two sisters, Mary Ann (Tom) Hoersten of Delphos and Betty (Denny) Miller of Ottoville; a sister-in-law, Doris Horstman of Ft. Jennings; and her dogs, Sadie and Junior. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Don and Irvin Horstman.

Helen was a homemaker, helped her husband on their family farm, and was a partner in H&M Machine. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Helen enjoyed crocheting and doing the latest crafts from Pinterest.

She loved her family and being a part of their lives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
