Helen (Kovalak) Greene, 87, of Monessen, passed away on Thursday Sept. 20, 2018 in Dunlevy Manor. She was born on June 23, 1931 in Donora, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Zinchar) Kovalak.

Helen grew up in Donora and was a 1949 graduate of Donora High School. She had worked at several supermarkets in the area, including Foodland, Loblaws, Kroger, and A & P. Helen was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church and enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Store. She loved cooking for her family and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helen’s passion was shopping and would shop every chance she got. She is survived by her two children, Barry R. (Terri) Greene and Cindy (Daniel) Bott, both of Monessen, a granddaughter, Brandy (Adam) Smith of Monessen; grandson, Brett (Greg Garlock) Greene of Washington; four great grandchildren, Makenzie, Jaxon, Briella, and Gienna; and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde W. “Bud” Greene, and by six brothers and a sister.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Monday Sept. 24, 2018 beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd.

Monessen, with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Donora.
