Helen Maxine (Spaulding) Ritchie, 79, of North Vernon passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon. Born January 12, 1939, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Garrie and Pauline Boner Spaulding. She married Paul Emerson Ritchie on August 17, 1957 at the Hayden Baptist Church in Hayden.

He survives. Mrs. Ritchie was a graduate of Hayden High School in Hayden and retired from the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville where she worked as a clerk. She was a member of Hayden Baptist Church where she was a former piano player and member of Hayden Chapter #253, Order of the Eastern Star in Hayden.

Mrs. Ritchie enjoyed camping, reading, and sightseeing. She and Paul have visited all 48 lower states. Mrs. Ritchie loved having Sunday Evening meals for her family, she had a love for the family that bound them together.

Surviving with her husband of 60 years, Paul are sons, Garrie L. (Ellen) Ritchie of North Vernon, Thomas A. (Cheri) Ritchie of Ironton, Missouri and Steven M. (Vickie) Ritchie of Rushville; brothers, Giles (Faye) Spaulding of Reddington and Don (Patty) Spaulding of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Allen (Charlotte) Ritchie of North Vernon, Jo Ellen Ritchie of North Vernon, Ashley Ritchie of Madison, Tommie Paul (Bethany) Ritchie of North Carolina; Lauri (Matt) Ritchie of North Vernon and Candice (Joe) Davidson of North Vernon; great-grandchildren, Andrea Ritchie of North Vernon, Elleonna Zimmerman of North Vernon, Ethan Ritchie of Madison, Jacob Ritchie of Madison, Zoey Ritchie of North Carolina, Lydia Ritchie of North Vernon, Kaydee Ritchie of North Vernon, Logan Ritchie of North Vernon, Aiden Ritchie of North Vernon and Stevie Sue Ritchie of North Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Gertrude Sumner and Luella Mae Brown. A memorial service for Mrs. Ritchie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Hayden Baptist Church in Hayden.

Family and Friends may call at the Hayden Baptist Church on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hayden Baptist Church.
