Obituary for Helen S. Hottenroth Harlingen – Helen Martha (Schnitzer) Hottenroth, age 101, went home to be with God and with her beloved husband Jim on July 5, 2018. She leaves behind her four children, Cathy (Ken) Kummet, Terry Hottenroth, Jim (Liese) Hottenroth, and Marian (Mike) Magee; eleven grandchildren, Jenny (Garth) Vander Vorst, Angie (Kyle) Hewitt, Kim Kummet, Kristin (Jeff) Levine, Michael Hetsko, John (Veronica) Hottenroth, Tess Hottenroth (partner Kendall Almerico), Luke Hottenroth (fiancee Markie Albertson), Sarah (Jason) Meyers, Andy (Katie) Moe, and Nancy Moe; and four great-grandchildren, Jay, Jimmy, and Juliana Meyers, and Baby Boy Moe, eagerly expected July 12, 2018. She is further survived by countless friends related by love as well as those related by blood.

She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Col. James Hart Hottenroth; her parents; her nine brothers and sisters; and her great-granddaughter, Marian Anastasia Moe. The family will receive friends Friday, July 6, 2018 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 departing the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sante Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico at a later date. “A wife of noble character is worth far more than rubies; her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. ’ Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised”.
