Obituary of Helen Witherspoon Helen Jane Witherspoon, who family and friends affectionately called Jane, 89, of Latrobe, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Debbie Rosso, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 3, 1929 in Cokeville, a daughter of the late Henry and Edna (Sheriff) Clark. Prior to retirement in 1989, Jane was a nurse’s aide at Torrance State Hospital for over 20 years.

She was a faithful member of the Hope Evangelical Methodist Church in Youngstown where she was active with the Joy Club. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her former husband, John Witherspoon, a son Alex C. Witherspoon, her brother, James Clark, and her sister Dorothy Robinson.

Jane is survived by three children: Kathy Zavatsky, (Edward) of Mount Pleasant, Douglas Witherspoon (Sandy) of New Alexandria, and Debbie Rosso (Michael) of Bradenville; five grandchildren: Becky Ohler (Ron), Tricia Hummel, Kelsey Dietrich (William), Katie Anderson (Carl), and Destiny Faith Witherspoon who Jane raised after the death of her father, Alex; great grandchildren: Patrick, Jacob, and Hollie Hiles, Karly and Kimi Hummel, Kane and Krista Markle, and Camden and Weston Dietrich; a great great granddaughter, Arya, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jane’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents at Sunnylands Retirement Home for the care and friendship extended to her while she was a resident there. Friends will be received Tuesday, May 29th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., 1500 Ligonier Street, Latrobe.

Additional visitation will be from 10 until 11 AM Wednesday, May 30th in the Hope Evangelical Methodist Church, 131 Church Street, Youngstown at which time funeral services will be held with her pastor, the Rev. Wayne Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery.
