Helen Kleps, age 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Bend, Oregon. Helen was born January 25, 1921 in Fairfield, Connecticut to August Kessler and Emma Lemke. She was the second youngest of four children.

Helen married Edward Kleps on January 15, 1955, and had three children. She lived her entire life in Fairfield until 2001, when at the age of 80, she moved to Bend. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She lead a full and generous life, devoted to family, church, and community. She was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, long time Church Choir member, and active organizer and participant in many church and school events. Helen’s career also included many years of work as a retail buyer and sales associate for a variety of department stores in the Connecticut area.

Helen was a life long member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Since moving to Bend, she has been a member at Grace First Lutheran. Helen had an indomitable spirit that was an inspiration to all who knew her.

We love and miss you and will carry you forever in our hearts. Helen is preceded in death by her husband Edward in 1990, son David in 2017, and her three siblings Henry, Mae and Elsie. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Chip Hill of Bend; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Rita Kleps of Springfield, Massachusetts; grandchildren Jessica and Jason, and two great grandchildren Elijah and Xavier, all also of Massachusetts.

Helen’s cremated remains will be laid to rest with her husband and son in her home town of Fairfield. A gravesite memorial service will be held at time of burial. Memorial contributions in honor of her life may be made to: Partners in Care, Bend, OR; or to Grace First Lutheran Church, Bend, OR.
