Obituary for Henry Jarvis Rogers Henry Jarvis Rogers Obituary Henry Jarvis Rogers, 83 of West Jordan, Utah, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on September 13, 2018. He was born on July 12, 1935 to Benjamin Franklin Rogers and Ella Margaret Jarvis. Jarvis served for the forest service and as a smoke jumper.
He served a mission to Central America in 1955 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-saints where he developed a love for the Spanish language and all its many cultures. Jarvis served in the United States Army for 20 years and received many metals in for his service. He married Sharon Scott after returning from his mission and had 5 children.
Jarvis also graduated from Georgetown, University with a master’s degree in Latin American Studies. He later divorced and re-married Colleen Schetselaar Lucero, who already had 2 children, on February 14, 1978 in the Saint George Temple. After some time, Jarvis and Colleen had 3 more children totaling a great yours-mine-ours family of 10.
Jarvis also served a 2nd mission for the Church with Colleen to Uruguay from 2007-2008 and a 3rd mission after that to the West Jordan LDS employment office. Jarvis loved being a missionary and teaching anyone he came in contact with about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was also dedicated to serving his fellow-men whenever the opportunity arose.
Jarvis is preceded in death by his mother Ella Margaret Jarvis, his father Benjamin Franklin Rogers, his older brother Edwin Rogers, his little sister Koi Clark, his two baby brothers Richard and Dan Rogers, and his son-in-law LaVoy Finicum, his brothers-in-law Wally Krause, & Jim Clark and his cousin-siblings Connie Patterson (Lloyd), and Colleen August (Tony). Jarvis is survived by his wife of over 40 years Colleen, his children Jeanette Finicum, Karen Johnson (Bob), Richard Rogers (Stephanie), Ellen Rogers, Caroline Johnson (Tony), Cathi Byrnes (Steve), Bobby Lucero (Joanna), JR Rogers (Sara), Idamae Wallace (Curtis) and Frank Rogers (Becca), his 57 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren with 5 more greats on the way, his siblings Valene Krause, Bill Yssel (Verona), Barbara Aikens (Jim), Nellie Lee (Roland), Trisha Eves (Robert), his sister-in-law Anne Rogers Budge, and his cousin-siblings David Wood (Judy), Rosemary Palmer (Fred), and Madonna Saltern (Jerry). Pallbearers will be sons: Richard Rogers, Bobby Lucero, JR Rogers, Frank Rogers and sons-in-law: Bob Johnson, Tony Johnson, Steven Byrnes, and Curtis Wallace.
The family of Jarvis wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Scholand and the Rocky Mountain Hospice team and the Westbrook 1st ward of West Jordan, Utah for the luncheon. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 6500 South Dixie Drive, West Jordan, Utah with a viewing prior to services from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm. Interment with military honors at the West Jordan City Cemetery, 7925 South 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah.
Arrangements for the funeral are by Premier Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, Jarvis desired to please donate to the humanitarian fund for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Upcoming Events Funeral Services SEP 22.
