Obituary for Howard A. Pirwitz Howard A. Pirwitz, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Gahanna, OH, on May 18, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. A native of Toledo, Howard was born on November 26, 1942 to Howard E. and Laura Pirwitz. He graduated in 1960 from DeVilbiss High School where he was a member of the football team.

After graduation, he enlisted in the Marines and also attended the University of Toledo. Howard had a successful 50-year career as a Financial Advisor. Howard was a recognized leader in his field and was well respected by both his clients and his colleagues.

He took a special interest in mentoring those new to the business and was instrumental in the career development of many of those who followed him. During this time he also served on the Board of Directors of BalletMet, volunteered for The Salvation Army and wrote a regular article for Business First. He retired in 2014 from UBS as Senior Vice-President of Investments.

In retirement, Howard loved to play golf, ski, travel, and spend time with friends and family. Howard was also especially proud of his involvement as a member of The Harmony Project and all that they do for the City of Columbus. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, David Pirwitz and his infant daughter, Lisa.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Hannah; his daughters, Jennifer (Knut) Luescher, Sarah (Josh) Mehling, his son Eric (Tiffany) Pirwitz; as well as: Haley (Eric Weiss) Ellis; Jonathon (Katy) Collin, Casey (Luana) Collin and Brett Collin; brother, Richard (Sandra) Pirwitz; sister, Marcia Jones; grandchildren, Mila, Lucy, Cole, Caroline, Katherine, Quinn, Eleanor, Addie Sue, Teyah, Ty, Brocke, Nola and Baylor. Friends are welcome to celebrate Howard’s life at a memorial gathering that will be held from 5:00 – 7:30pm on Thursday, May 24th at New Albany Country Club, 1 Club Lane, New Albany, OH 43054.
