HOWARD CLEMENS HIDY, age 85, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 3:12 p.m. at Carriage Court of Washington CH. He was born on October 21, 1933 in Fayette County to Bruce Warner and Hazel Mae Denney Hidy. He was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School.

Howard had worked as a lumber grader at Fred Mears in South Charleston and later retired from Versa Ferguson in Mount Sterling. He enjoyed playing euchre at the Commission on Aging on Delaware Street, fishing, and watching old John Wayne movies. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Helen Johnson; and brother, Dale Hidy.

Survivors include his wife, Joe Ann Shope Hidy, whom he married on June 27, 1953; children, Cindy (Robert) Reeves, Susan Metais and her significant other, Steven Cline, and Jennifer (Rick) McCoy; grandchildren, Carisa (Brian) Adams, Trent (Ellen) Reeves, Alison (Ben) Streitenberger, Phillip (Courtney) Metais, and Courtney Jo Davis; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Wilson. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The viewing will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow and burial will take place at the Highlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions are suggested to Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County, 222 N. Oakland Ave. , Washington CH, OH 43160.
