Obituary for Hubert Thomas Martin Hubert Thomas Martin, 89, entered peacefully into the arms of Jesus Saturday morning, January 19, 2019. Hubert was born on January 7, 1930, on Spivey Mountain in Unicoi County,Tennessee. He was preceeded in death by the recent passing of the love of his life, Florence Wilma Martin, his parents, Luther G. and Lora Foster Martin, sisters: Dorothy Phillips, Wilma Laws Layman, Adell Tilson Calloway and a brother Clarence Martin.

Hubert resided most of his life in Kingsport, TN and graduated from Holston Institute. A member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, Hubert enjoyed sharing Jesus and singing in the Switchmen Quartet, fishing and golfing. He worked at Dobyns -Taylor and as a brakeman and conductor of the CSX railroad.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather,great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind sons, Tommy Martin and wife Shari, Danny Martin and wife, Glenda, along with two grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Jennifer Greeson (Andrew) and Christopher Martin (Shelley). He had five beautiful great-grandchildren, Quinn, Callan and Georgia Greeson, and Jack and Joli Martin.

Surviving are sisters Jean Francis (Noah), Reba Dawn Barnette (Henry) and Joyce Erwin (Bill), remember him for being a godly man with a sense of humor. He had several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Special thank you to the caregivers and staff at Brookdale in Colonial Heights who loved him so much.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22 at Sunnyside Baptist Church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow. Hubert will be laid to rest on Wednesday (January 23, 2019) at 2:00 p.m. at East Tennessee Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Graves officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the graveside at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made to the Martin family at www.
