Obituary for Irene Anna Dirrig Dirrig, Irene Irene Anna Dirrig, 83, passed peacefully on May 3, 2018, in Powell, OH. Born August 5, 1934, in Kassel, Germany, she wed U.S. Air Force Lt. Ernest Egon Dirrig in 1959, and emigrated to Akron, OH, living 55 years in Springfield Township, raising her children, meticulously maintaining her yard, and never turning away an animal in need of help.

Widowed in 1995, she is survived by sisters Barbara (Wolfgang) and Anneliese in Germany, children Christel (Arthur) Richard of North Canton, John (Roopande) Dirrig of Powell, and grandchildren Spencer, Sarina, and Raya Dirrig of Powell. A celebration with friends will be held later in May. In memoriam of Irene’s sincere love for “All Creatures Great and Small,” donations can be made to Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary at www.
