Irene Garves, Age 99, of Powers Lake passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at The Bay of Burlington. She was born April 12, 1919 to Thomas and Ida (nee Erickson) Anderson in Black River Falls, WI. Her early life was spent in Black River Falls where she attended school.

On November 28, 1935 she was united in marriage to Rex Garves in Black River Falls. Following their marriage they resided in Black River Falls before moving to Milwaukee in 1940. Along with her husband, she was the owner… Read More » and operator of Rex and Irene’s in Milwaukee.

Rex passed away July 16, 1986. Since his death she resided in Powers Lake. Irene was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.

She enjoyed cooking and baking. Irene is survived by her daughter Gale (Jim) Mortl, 2 grandchildren Todd (Fiancée Christy Patterson) and Steve (Kathy) Mortl, six grandchildren Jordan, Casey, Sydney, Scott, Samantha and A.J. and 2 great-great-granddaughters Leila and Kaida. She was preceded in death by her husband.

The family has suggested that the Memorials be made to the Christ Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Irene’s family would like to express a sincere thank you to the Staff and Nurses at The Bay of Burlington for all their care and compassion. A Private Inurnment will be held at a later in date in Little Norway Cemetery, Black River Falls.
