Ivory’s Obituary DODGE CITY – Ivory Lane Martinez, 36, went to be with God on February 15, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born to Rudy Martinez Jr. and Dora Martinez in Wellington, Texas on July 16, 1982. He lived in various cities across Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Washington, spending a big part of his young life in Lakin, KS.
After high school he completed the HVAC Vocational program at Seward County Community College, then worked in that field for 17 years. He quickly became the “go-to” guy, for his expertise in the field. He settled in Dodge City in 2010 where he met his wife, Trisha, and made his life with his family.
On December 27, 2012 he married Trisha Anne Eversole. Together, they raised three children, and enjoyed life through many camping trips, fishing trips and vacations. Among Ivory’s favorite activities were playing basketball, pool, attending family reunions, raising pets, and always fishing.
During his time on pool league, his team advanced to the state championship twice. In 2017 Ivory purchased a new home for his family where he took great pride in providing. He loved mowing on the riding lawn mower and sometimes mowed up to three times a week, just because he loved it.
Ivory had a contagious smile and was often laughing and trying to make those around him laugh. He took great pride in his children and his ability to provide for his family. In 2013 Ivory and Trisha opened I.M.A.C.
& Heating, LLC and served Dodge City together for 5 years. Ivory always wanted to help people and used his business to do that. He was employed with TATRO Plumbing Company at the time of his passing.
Ivory was always full of new ideas and big dreams. His biggest dream was to move with his wife to Washington to settle and retire early. Together, they were attending the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene where Ivory found much peace and healing.
Through his organ donation election, Ivory was able to give life through successful donation of several organs. Ivory is survived by his wife, Trisha Martinez of Dodge City; mother, Dora Martinez of Lubbock, TX; son, Sylyn Martinez of Dodge City; two step-daughters Elizabeth Gall and Isabelle Gall, both of Dodge City; six brothers Rudy Martinez III and wife Tina of Liberal, Billy Martinez of Garden City, Cory Martinez of Lubbock, TX, Aaron Martinez of San Diego, CA, Juillian Martinez and wife Brittni of Garden City, Joseph Ross and wife Andie of Lubbock, TX; two sisters, Petra Martinez of Lubbock, TX and Paige Cooler and husband Pete of Hollis, OK; grandfather Rudy Martinez and wife Rose of Amarillo, TX; grandmother Mary Lou Mendez and husband Gilbert of Great Bend. Ivory was preceded in death by his father Rudy Martinez Jr.; grandparents Jose and Paula Guerrero.
Funeral service will be held at Dodge City Church of the Nazarene on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Ivory Martinez Children Education Fund in care of the funeral home.
