Obituary for Ivy Jane Carpenter Ivy “Jane” Carpenter, 87, of Blue Springs, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Monday, December 10th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, Dec.

11th at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church; 4313 SW St. Rt. 7, Blue Springs, MO 64014. Jane was born July 26, 1931 to Clifford and Ivy (Sickles) Gordon in Wakefield, KS, and graduated from Wakefield High School.

In November of 1951, Jane married the love of her life, James “Jim” Carpenter. Together, they moved to the Independence area and were members of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church. Jane served on the board of the Bingham Waggoner Estate where she also volunteered for many years and through that, involved in the local Quester’s Club.

She was a talented artist, specializing in watercolor, but also enjoyed cooking and entertaining guests in her home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 2017, and her brother, Clifford Gordon, Jr. Survivors include; her son Steven Carpenter and his wife Robin, granddaughters Savannah and Caroline, as well as, a great granddaughter, Ella of Tampa, FL; her sister Rhoda Dinsmore of Wichita, KS; loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and many friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bingham Waggoner Estate.
