Jack J. Lennard, 86, of Riga, Michigan passed away on November 16, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on September 23, 1932 in Ida, Michigan to Ellery K. and Elsie M. (Janney) Lennard. He moved to his family farm in Riga at two years old.

He graduated in 1950 from Bedford High School, where he was a four sport athlete who held the pole vault record until recently. Jack was nominated Homecoming King in 1948 and he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America. Jack started his over sixty-year farming career with James Ery.

Over the years, he worked for Wayne Lennard Farms, Anderson Fertilizer, Smith Douglas, Haviland Chemical, Grower’s Service, United Agri Products, Crop Production Services. He was currently employed by Nutrien Ag Solutions in Blissfield. He was a long-time member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge # 1579, The Tecumseh Club, and a supporter of local organizations like the Lenawee Civitan, 4-H, and too many others to list.

Jack was well known for his generosity and for taking care of his family, friends and community. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Patty (Kiest) Lennard, his daughters Cheryl (Gordon) Strahan, Angie (Steve) Wingerd, Julie (Amado) Cantu and son Steve (Tammy) Crist, all of Riga; grandchildren Rod Strahan of Ottawa Lake, Brad (Amanda) Strahan of Blissfield, Dan Strahan and Charlie Dahlke of Manitou Beach, Kelsey Wingerd of Toledo, Kris Wingerd of Riga, and Lexi and Leigha Cantu of Riga; great-grandchildren Evan and Elliot Strahan and Alyssa and Colin Eggleston of Blissfield, and Dominic, Demetri and Layla Wingerd of Toledo. Jack was proceeded in death by his parents and three brothers Gene (Grace) Lennard, Bryce (Verna) Lennard, and Hubert Lennard.

Visitation will be from 1-9 pm, Saturday, November 24, at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio. On Sunday, November 25, visitation will be from 11 am – 1 pm, with funeral services starting at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ottawa Lake Fire Department or Whiteford Wesleyan Church.

Burial will be private at a later date.
