James A. Hardebeck, age 81, of Amboy and formerly of Elwood, passed away at his daughters residence on Monday, December 24, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. Jim was born in Elwood, IN on March 25, 1937, to the late Joseph and Naomi (Smith) Hardebeck. Jim retired from General Cage and was formerly employed at Ex-Cello Corp.

, Switzer and Indiana Gear Works. Jim proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy reserves. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and had a way with animals.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved spending time with his family. Jim is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Moss of Amboy, IN, son, Richard (Wilma) Hardebeck of Elwood, IN. , daughter, Rhonda Mousty of Anderson, IN, sister, Laura Parker of Elwood, IN.

,sister, Clara (Ron) Shaw of Elwood, IN. ,10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 special fur buddies, Riley & Hunter, several nieces & nephews, step daughter, Carmie (Dave) Frye, step son, Eddie Gordon, step son, Mike Coubert, step daughter, Fannie Coubert, several step grandchildren & step great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark Hardebeck, sister, Judy Bourff, step son, Mark Coubert, step son, David Coubert, and step son, Bobby Coubert.

Funeral service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, December 28, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, IN. with Pastor Walt Weaver officiating. Cremation will follow.

Jim will be buried at a later date in the Elwood Cemetery alongside his son Mark. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, December 28, 2018 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, IN. Online condolences can be given at www.
