James “Bud” Derrick Morton, MS Mr. Bud Derrick, age 84, a resident of Morton, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the MS Care Center in Morton. Visitation will be held 9am-11am Thursday, May 31, 2018 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Services will be held 11am Thursday from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Whiteoak Cemetery.

Bro. Jerry Holmes and Bro. Gary Wyatt will officiate the services.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Bud was born in Smith County on June 10, 1933. He proudly served in the United States Army.

He served in the Korean War and trained recruits before they went to the Korean War. Bud was Communication Chief for the 105 Houser Battery for Field Artillary. He received a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Bud was the owner of Derrick Barber Shop in Morton for 50 years. His sense of humor and his big smile will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gray Derrick; parents, Noah Kala Derrick and Lillian Virginia Wooley Derrick; 5 brother, Daniel Woody, Thee Olan, Quinton Grady, John Arlis and Don Harlis Derrick; sister, Helen Sullivan.

He is survived by his children, David Derrick (Waylon Garrett) of Natchez, Bobby Derrick (Shannon) of TN and Glen Allen Derrick (Gail Cieszkiewicz) of Houston,TX; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Alan Prestage, Richard Prestage, Jerryl Derrick, Bro. Tal Vardaman, Devin Arnold and Shelby “Tebo” Coward.
