Obituary for James Cleveland Calhoun James “Jimmy” Cleveland Calhoun was born on April 22, 1941 in Yazoo County, Mississippi to Lola Mae Browne and Ellis Lucas Peoples and raised by his loving grandparents Jim and Ruth Browne of Benton, Mississippi along with his favorite Aunt Ru-Ru. He passed on June 29, 2018 in Maumelle, AR. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kim.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sarah Odom Calhoun and daughter, Jodi (Ken) Boarman. “Pops” had an endearing relationship with his only grandchild Emily “Hot Dog”. He is also survived by two sisters, Dinah Johnson and Betty Zett.

There will be a visitation at Stricklin-King Funeral Home, 718 Calhoun Ave, Yazoo City, MS 39194, on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, from 11:00-12:00pm followed by a private burial at Glenwood Cemetery.
