James Conway Place, 69, of Palacios passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, Texas. He was born on June 15, 1948 in Great Lakes, Illinois to Rufus Monroe Place and Verdie Wood Place. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.

He worked for the United States Post Office until he retired. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving wife, Cheryl Lynn Place of Palacios; sons, James R. Place and wife Kay of Palacios and Timothy A. Place of Round Lake Beach, Illinois; daughters, Kellee M. Williams and James of Palacios and Patrica A. Place of Waukegan, Illinois; sisters, Alice Olivia Place, Christine Wagusepak and husband Mike and Marjorie Ann Dahse; brothers, Dana L. Place and Harold L. Place; good friends, Phillip Schab and Jack Myers and wife Karen; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.

Funeral service will start at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor James L. Williams, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Final arrangements entrusted to Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria at (979) 798-9113.
