James David Rebar, 57, Dickson City, died at home with his family by his side, Thursday evening, June 28, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah A. Raymond Rebar. They were married June 14, 1986.

Born Tuesday, December 06, 1960 in Scranton, Jim was the son of A. Patricia (Golden) Rebar and the late George Rebar. He was a graduate of Henry J. Kaiser High School; Honolulu, Hawaii, and attended the University of Hawaii, having earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Mansfield University. Jim later continued his education with a Master’s degree in English from Shippensburg University.

For the past 31 years, he was a well-respected member of the English Department with the Western Wayne School District. A lover of all sports, Jim was an avid bowler and member of the Providence Men’s Bowling League. For the past 25 years, he was a member of the Dickson City Girls’ Softball Program.

He was well known as the ‘Voice of the Wildcats,’ announcing for the Western Wayne Football Program for many years. Jim also served his school as editor of Labyrinth, the Western Wayne Literary Magazine. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, to all who knew him.

Also surviving are daughter, Kelly and fiancé Mike Huggins, West Chester; brother, Tom and wife Kristine Rebar, Harleysville; sister Suzanne and husband Michael Lambert, Chapman Lake; nieces Emily Lambert and Carolyn Rebar; nephews Thomas, Christopher, and Stephen Rebar, and Matthew Lambert. He was also preceded in death by his father, George Rebar; his paternal grandparents, George and Mary Rebar; his maternal grandparents, Anne and Francis Golden; and nephew, Michael Francis Lambert. Family and friends may call Saturday, July 7, from 8:15 – 9:15 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 am, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore.
