James Donald Carter, 80, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2018. James “Jim” was born July 31, 1938 in Man W.V. to the late Elmer and Martha McDaniel Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son James Allen Carter, and sisters; Susie and Laura Carter James served in the U.S. Army Reserve, worked as a police officer in Chillicothe, OH and was an engineer at Cape Kennedy Space Center for many years.

Following his time at the space center, James was a general contractor in many states. He enjoyed being a pilot, being with his family, going to the mountains, and snow skiing in Colorado. Survivors include daughter, Pam (Tim) Hager, son; Sean (Heidi) Carter; grandchildren, Asher Carter, Christopher Hager, Anthony Carter, Justin Hager, and Asher Carter; brother, Rowan Carter; and one more Carter, one great-grandson, Hudson Ryan Hager.
