James E. “Jim” Perry, 70, of Latrobe died unexpectedly Monday April 23, 2018 in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born November 11, 1947 in Latrobe a son of the late Ester McCurdy Estes. Jim was a proud USArmy veteran having served in Vietnam and was a life member of the American Legion Byers-Tosh Post 267, Ligonier.

He was raised in Ligonier by his grandparents the late Charles and Ruth McCurdy. Jim retired in 2011 from Torrance State Hospital and had been working part time in maintenance at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Kinder Schull in Latrobe. Jim was an easy going man of few words but a friend to all.

He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Fillmore Perry, children; Angela Burd (Aaron) of Latrobe, Barry Moore Jr. (Erica) of Delmont and Matthew Moore of Latrobe. A brother Charles Estes of Tampa, FL, 2 cousins Brent Bushnell of Richmond, VA and Tim Jones of Franklin,TN. Two aunts, Nancy Bushnell of Ligonier and Betty Jones of Mobile, AL.

Two grandaughters Gabi Burd and Rylee Moore. His beloved dog Gracie, numerous sister and brother in laws. Friends will be received Thursday from 3:00-6:00pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted at 6:00 pm with the Reverend William A. Schaefer officiating.

The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a service Thursday immediately following Reverend Schaefers service. Memorial contributions may be made to Action for Animals, 386 State Rt. 217, Latrobe,PA 15650.
