Obituary for James Edward “Ed” Johnston James Edward “Ed” Johnston, 72, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born August 23, 1946 in Lebanon, KY, a son to the late Joseph Albert Johnston and Margaret Rosaline Willett Johnston. Ed was a computer programmer for IBM for over 31 years until his retirement in 1996.

He was a member of Southeast Christian Church and Crossroads Missions. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother and sister, Joe and Lou Johnston. Ed is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Mattingly Johnston, son, Steve Johnston and his wife, Terri Lynn; two grandsons, Luke and Aaron Johnston and six siblings, Alice Marie Gephart, Mike Johnston (Betty), Patty Hamilton (Norbert), David Johnston (Patricia), Amy Thomas (Joe), and John Johnston (Dawn).

His funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Southeast Christian Church (Fireside Room), 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, 40243, with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church (Fireside Room). Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville is entrusted with arrangements.
