James Edward Smith, 71, of Jackson, Missouri, formerly of Festus, Missouri died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at The Villas of Jackson. He was born September 13, 1947 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to James Oval and Alma Jean Waters. He and Donna Ruth Rivers were married December 19, 1970.

She preceded him in death on April 24, 1995. He was Chief System Analyst at Ruan Transportation. He loved being outdoors, technology, joking, laughing, loved his family and the Lord.

He loved all the staff at The Villas and was a member of the Big Dawg’s Club at The Villas. He was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Festus, Missouri since 1985. Survivors include his one son, Kristofor Mikeal (Tracie) Smith of Festus, Missouri; one daughter, Kendra Eileen (Todd) Odom of Jackson, Missouri; one sister, Jeanie Gillenwater of Baltimore, Maryland; six grandchildren, Dylan, Lukas, and Alyssa Smith and Brady, Jordan, and Jack Odom.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions may be given to Heart of the Bride, PO Box 786, Nice Vill, Florida 32588.
