Obituary for James Edward Ewart James Edward Ewart, 88, of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Thursday February 21, 2019 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born on June 13, 1930 in Spelter, WV a son of the late Harold and Edith Craig Ewart. He is survived by his beloved wife Trellis ”Becky” Miles Ewart whom he married on November 3, 1957; his daughter Mary Jean Bunch and her spouse Doug of Good Hope, WV, daughter Melanie Wetzel of Bridgeport, WV, son Jimmy Ewart of Lewiston, Maine ; Crystal Bunch, whom he considered a third daughter; brother Jack Ewart and his wife Carmella of Good Hope, WV; sister Norma Knight of Clarksburg, WV; grandchildren Josh Gabbert of Shinnston, WV, JR Bunch and his wife Clista of Good Hope, WV, Luke Wetzel and his fiancée Ashley of Bridgeport, WV ; great grandchildren Hunter and Parker Bunch of Good Hope, WV, Isaiah and Bryson Gabbert of Clarksburg, WV; He was preceded in death by his mother and father-n-law Ray and Marion Miles, brother-n-law Jerry Miles, nephew Jimmy Joe Tucker and grandmother Esta Stutler.

James was employed for 45 years at Southern Steel and 7 years at Hazel Atlas. He was an active member of the Church of Christ in Shinnston, WV. He enlisted in the Army in 1946.

He landed at Inchon at the start of the Korean campaign, and later he fought in the battle of the Chosin Reservoir. He received 1 silver and 2 bronze stars along with the Purple Heart and the Korean combat medal among many other awards. He was honorably discharged as master sargent on July 18, 1956.

James was a member of the VFW Post 573, Clarksburg WV. A special thank you to the care givers Margie “Maggie” Wratchford, WVU Hospice and Care Partners Home Health. Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a funeral service on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Evangelist Edward Partain officiating, Interment will following at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
