Obituary for James Emmett Duquette James Emmett Duquette, 77 of Bonita Springs, FL passed away December 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving children. Born in Ludlow, MA to James and Lucille (Giroux) Duquette Oct. 13, 1941.

He grew up in Ludlow, MA and graduated from Ludlow High in 1960. He was an avid athlete during high school, playing football and baseball. On October 9, 1965 he married Patricia (Appicelli) Bernard and they had two children.

Jim worked many years for Connecticut State Prison as a correctional officer and owned a trucking company called Eastside T&T in Springfield. Once retired from the prison he married Diane Hurteau in 1997 and moved to Bonita Springs, FL. While in FL he worked at the Bonita Bay Community until his health declined.

He spoke kindly of his friends and coworkers there often and legend has it he coaxed many a gator off the golf course. He is survived by his wife, Diane Hurteau of Bonita Springs, FL; son, Scott Duquette (Stacey) of Wilbraham, MA; daughter, Dawn Lavigne (Robert) of Maple Grove, MN; sister, MaryEllen Houle (Germaine) of Chicopee, MA, and beloved grandchildren, Aidan, Jackson, Rachel, Julia and Ian. He is further survived by his niece, nephews, many cousins and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucille. Jim loved his family, his dogs, the Patriots, Red Sox, golfing, fishing, trips to Las Vegas (with his lifelong friend, Mike “Snaps’ Bonz), off color jokes, breaking the rules, neighborhood violations, and most of all having fun wherever he went. He made many a friend over a cocktail and he lived his life with no regrets.

He will be deeply missed. In keeping with Jim’s wishes there will be no funeral services. His family will hold a private memorial/internment at a later date.
