James Harris Akins, 60, of Wiconisco, passed away Friday at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Born in Buford, Georgia, January 2, 1958, a son of Mary Alice Nobles Baker, Gainesville, Florida and the late James G. Akins. Jim was a United States Army Veteran.

Before becoming ill he was employed by Home Depot, Saint Clair. He was a Disabled American Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bonnie M. Knott Akins; his children, Gwendolyn Akins Dricken, Youngstown, Ohio; Jacob Akins, Travis Akins, both of Lykens and Wyatt Akins, Wiconisco. Six siblings, Gregory Baker and Lisa Thornton, both of Florida; Michelle Akins, Stephanie Wood, Christopher Akins and David Akins all of Georgia. 5 Grandchildren.

Nieces and nephews. Privates services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc, Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt. In lieu of flowers memorial donations should be made to Fisher House Foundation, Inc. 12300 Twinbrook Parkway #410 Rockville, MD 20852.
