Obituary for James “Jim” D. Shuey James “Jim” D. Shuey, 75, of Kearney died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his residence. Memorial graveside services will be on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kearney Cemetery west columbarium. Pastor Michelle Carlson will officiate.

hlmkfuneral.com to leave a tribute or condolence. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Jim was born the youngest of three children at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, NE to Dean and Bernice (Lare) Shuey.

He graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1961 and from the University of Nebraska Agricultural College on January 19, 1966 in Dairy Processing. He married and had two children. In his career, Jim managed the quality control of cheese making processes for various dairies and was also in sales management of sanitation chemicals to food processing plants.

He travelled much of his career across the Midwest and Western states. His last job, before retiring, was with Ecolab as a Regional Sales Manager. Throughout his career Jim lived in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, and Colorado.

Jim had an avid interest in piloting single engine planes and owned some of his own planes at different times. One of his favorite activities was to take someone flying that had not previously flown in a small plane. He also loved to hunt and fish in his younger years and enjoyed identifying all types of birds by species.

Many a deer, antelope, and wildlife have had Jim stop the car he was driving and sit and watch their evening activities. Jim married Sandy Parzych in 2005 and the two of them lived in Kearney, Nebraska. Together they enjoyed traveling via car to any locations that did not involve interstate travel.

Jim and Sandy were Husker football and volleyball fans and watched the games on television whenever possible. Survivors include his loving wife, Sandy of Kearney; sisters, Judy Arnold of Omaha, NE and Jane (Mark) Arthur of Kearney, NE; son, Jeff Shuey of Boulder, MT; daughter, Wendy (Steve) Saathoff of Centennial, CO; granddaughters, Stephanie Saathoff of Los Angeles, CA and Tessa Saathoff of Omaha, NE; step sons, Stan (Stephanie) Parzych and their sons Jake and Jordon; Shawn Parzych and his daughter Chloe all of Kearney, NE; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother in law, Terry Arnold.
