Mr. James “Jim” Ervin Higgins, born on August 18, 1932, in Marion, North Carolina, to the late Ada Higgins and the late WC Higgins, passed away at age 85 on May 30, 2018, in Cumming, Georgia. James graduated from Georgetown University in 1962. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Garland and his daughter-in-law Susan Higgins. James is survived by his son, Doug Higgins and wife Michelle of Alpharetta; brothers, Ray and his wife Jo, Troy and his wife Ruth; sister, Joyce Gulledge and her husband Marshall; and grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Grant, and Garrett. James is a Korean War Veteran who served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy and Marines.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Monday, June 4 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life from 11:00 a.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home, 198 South Main Street, Marion. The graveside service will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with the Navy presenting military honors.
