Billy Proctor, age 85, of Marion, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born on January 4, 1933 in McDowell County to the late Stokes and Bessie Rhymer Proctor. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked for many years for Burlington Industries, but eventually retired from East Marion Manufacturing Company as a Supervisor.

Billy enjoyed watching football and was an avid fisherman. He was most proud of his large family, and always took good care of them. Billy leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Wilson Proctor of the home; four children, Bill Proctor and wife Evelyn of Taylorsville, Candyce Sheehan and husband Bruce of Dysartsville, Tracy Wilson of Marion, and Kelly Proctor and wife Tammy of Dysartsville; a sister Cornelia Johnson of Glen Alpine; fourteen grandchildren; twenty- two great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have services to include Military Honors at a later date. Flowers are appreciated, but the family asks that memorials be made to CarePartners Hospice and Palliative Care of McDowell at PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
