David Franklin Chapman, age 61, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Charles George VA Medical Center’s Hospice and Palliative Care in Asheville. A native of Buncombe County, North Carolina, born November 10, 1956 to Betty Sorrells Chapman of Marion, North Carolina and the late David W. Chapman. For over 40 years, David was a long-haul truck driver for several companies and had driven from coast to coast.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his mother, he was survived by one son, Marcus Chapman of Marion; one sister, Kathy Nanney (Rick) of Marion; two brothers Tim Chapman (Debi) and John Chapman, all of Marion. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and his childhood friend, Jimmy Countis.

In keeping with Mr. Chapman’s wishes, no services are planned.
